Jon Örarbäck

Biography

Jon is born and raised on a pair of skis in the Swedish ski resort Sälen. He is one of the most recognized names within the Scandinavian freeride industry, not only because his part in the film production company Swedish Posse, but also due to his great results and performance on the mountain and a appreciated attitude off the mountain as well. He is a calm and relaxed person on the outside but is burning to get his runs even steeper and more exciting combined with higher drops already for the next run. Jon and all the other freeskiers focus a great deal on the safety on the mountian and Jon wanted us to mention to all young riders (and everyone else as well) who might read this, that there is a lot of planning and preparation before the great runs you see in films and magazines, so think all your runs through before taking off.

Jon usually lives in Oslo during the summers where he is working on and off as a carpenter and his spare time is mostly spent in the water on his surfboard or maybe on his skateboard in the halfpipe. You can clearly see a great difference in his riding today compared to five years ago, and even though Jon has just passed 30 he is still getting better for each year.

As earlier mentioned he is one of the four guys in the film production team Swedish Posse with whom he has recorded 5 skimovies with so far. He has also been starring in Free Radicals 3 & 4 as well as some major American productions. With some impressive results from major competitions Jon is now focusing more and more on getting great film clips and great pictures. For this upcoming winter Jon will ski all over Europe and Northern America as usual.
