Jonas Hagström

Biography

Jonas is 25 years old and lives in Östersund in northern Sweden. He grew up in a small place called Gräftåvallen, where his parents have been running a small ski resort until recently. Snowboarding came early into his life and in 1998 he turned professional.

His career started in the halfpipe where he has several top 3 results in the Swedish championships and Junior World championships but during the last couple of years Jonas has focused more on shooting pictures and filming then competing. If you ask Jonas he would probably not call himself a halfpiperider anymore, but a backcountry freestyle rider instead.

He spends most of his winters in the Alpes, but usually make a couple of trips across the Atlantic as well. Jonas is working with some of the best photographers in the industry which together with his skills on the mountain has gotten him many frontcovers and stories in differnt magazines. In 2006 he had at least one picture in every issue of both Onboard and Snowboarder MBM who are the two biggest snowboard magazines in Europe.

When it comes to filming for Nitro Snowboards, where Jonas is the team leader, he has worked together with 16mm filmer Cristoph Fritschi. Cristoph is an amazing filmer that also works together with Fredrik Kalbermatten for Standard films. Jonas and Cristophs focus is to film backcountry and they always get a lot of great footage that has been used for many important movie and TV productions around the world. That snowboarding is the best thing in jonas life is there no doubt about. He is willing to give everything it takes to continue his professional career for many more years.
